SEO Training & Support · Manchester

SEO Training Manchester.

Not every business wants to hand SEO over completely. Some want their own team to understand it, run it, and only call in a specialist when they need one. That's what SEO training and support is for.

I provide one-to-one SEO training and ongoing support for Manchester businesses and in-house marketing teams: practical, hands-on sessions using your own website and data, not a generic slide deck or a certificate that means nothing once the course ends.

Search engine optimisation moves fast, and a fixed SEO course captures a snapshot of it that goes stale within a year. What I offer instead is ongoing, tailored SEO training that keeps pace with how search engines and your rankings actually change.

Who it's for

Who SEO training and support is for

This service tends to suit three types of business: those who've hired a marketer who's good at everything except SEO and need them upskilled quickly; business owners who want to understand enough SEO to manage an agency or freelancer properly; and teams who've inherited SEO from a previous agency and want to know what they're actually looking at.

If any of that sounds like you, this is built for it. It also works well alongside my wider SEO consultancy, for businesses who want a mix of expert delivery and their own team's growing capability.

It also suits businesses who looked at a formal SEO training course or a marketing course and decided a fixed syllabus wasn't the right fit, whether that's cost, timing, or wanting something tailored to their own site rather than a generic case study.

Why it matters

Why train your team in SEO at all?

Search engine optimisation touches almost everything a marketing team does: content, technical decisions, digital PR, even how a website gets briefed to a developer. A team that understands SEO makes fewer costly mistakes and spots ranking problems before they cost you traffic, rather than six months after a rebuild has already tanked your search engine visibility.

It also changes the conversation with any agency or freelancer you bring in. A team that understands SEO can tell the difference between good advice and someone padding out a retainer, and can judge whether a proposed SEO campaign is actually going to move your search engine rankings.

Curriculum

What SEO training covers

01

Fundamentals, using your own site

We start with your actual website and data, not a generic example, so everything covered is immediately relevant to your business.

02

Keyword research

How to find and prioritise the search terms your customers actually use, and map them to the right pages.

03

On-page & content

Writing and structuring content that satisfies both search intent and search engines, without falling into keyword stuffing.

04

Technical SEO basics

Enough technical grounding to spot crawl errors, speed problems and indexing issues, and to brief a developer properly when something needs fixing.

05

Link building & digital PR literacy

What a genuinely useful backlink looks like, and how to avoid the shortcuts that risk a Google penalty.

06

Measuring results

Reading Google Search Console and Google Analytics properly, so you can track your rankings and tell what is working without waiting for me to tell you.

Process

How training and support works

01

Assess

Training usually starts with a proper look at your site, often the SEO audit I offer separately, so sessions focus on what actually matters for your business rather than a fixed curriculum. See my SEO audits.

02

Train

One-to-one or small-group sessions, delivered online or in person around Manchester, working through real examples from your own site.

03

Support

Ongoing access to ask questions and get a second opinion as you put the training into practice, rather than being left on your own the day the sessions end.

Formats

Ways to train with me

Whichever format suits your Manchester team, the aim is the same: practical SEO skills and SEO techniques you can actually use, based on current best practice rather than a slide deck written a few years ago.

01

1:1 Coaching Sessions

Focused sessions built around your specific gaps, whether that is a single topic or a full grounding in SEO.

02

In-House Team Workshops

Corporate training for your whole marketing team together, so everyone is working from the same understanding of SEO.

03

Ongoing Retained Support

A standing arrangement where your team does the work and I review it, answer questions and course-correct as needed.

The difference

How this differs from a formal SEO course

I'm not a training academy and I don't issue a certificate. What I offer instead is direct access to someone who has worked in digital marketing and SEO professionally for 15+ years, training you through your actual website rather than a standard syllabus built for anyone and no one in particular.

A typical SEO training course or marketing course teaches the theory once and moves on. My sessions are tailored to your site, your current rankings and your actual gaps, and I stay reachable afterwards rather than disappearing once the training course ends. If you want a formal qualification, a training provider is the right choice for that specifically. If you want your team to genuinely understand your SEO and be able to act on it with confidence, this tends to work better, and it usually costs less than a multi-day course for a whole team.

The same applies beyond SEO. My own background covers social media marketing, PPC and web development alongside SEO, so training can widen out to cover how SEO fits your broader digital marketing rather than treating it as an island.

Questions

SEO training FAQs

Anything else, just ask. If you'd rather I handled SEO directly, see my SEO services, or start with a proper SEO audit of your site.

What does SEO training actually cover?

Keyword research, on-page and content optimisation, technical SEO basics, link building literacy and how to measure results and rankings in Google Search Console and Analytics, all worked through using your own website. The full breakdown is above.

Who is this training for?

Three types of business mostly: those who've hired a marketer who's good at everything except SEO and need them upskilled quickly, business owners who want to understand enough SEO to manage an agency or freelancer properly, and teams who've inherited SEO from a previous agency and want to know what they're looking at.

Is this useful if I've never done SEO before?

Yes. Most clients start with little to no SEO knowledge. Sessions are pitched to where you actually are, not to an assumed baseline, which is one of the advantages over a fixed SEO course built for a mixed room of strangers.

Do you offer a formal SEO qualification or certification?

No. I'm not a training academy and I don't issue a certificate. What I offer instead is direct, practical access to someone who has done this professionally for 15+ years, working through your actual website rather than a fixed syllabus. If you want a formal qualification, a training provider is the better choice for that specifically.

Is training delivered online or in person?

Both. Most sessions run online for convenience, and I deliver in-house workshops in person around Manchester and the North West when that suits the team better.

How much does SEO training cost?

Because every business needs a different amount of training, from a single session to an ongoing arrangement, I quote it individually rather than off a fixed rate card. Tell me what you are trying to achieve and I will give you a straight answer on cost.

Do you train agencies as well as in-house teams?

Yes, as part of the wider consultancy work I do. If you're an agency after white-label SEO support rather than training, that sits on my SEO services page under consultancy.

Is this different from just hiring you to do the SEO?

Yes. Training and support is about building your own team's ability to run SEO, with me as backup. Fully managed SEO is where I do the work directly. Plenty of clients use both at different stages; see my SEO services page for the fully managed side.

Do I need an SEO audit before training?

It helps but isn't essential. An audit gives us real, specific issues on your own site to train around, which tends to make the sessions more useful than working from theory alone.

How long does training take, and is it ongoing?

A single session can cover a specific topic in a couple of hours. Most clients start with an initial block of sessions to cover the fundamentals, then move to ongoing, lighter-touch support as their team gets more confident.

Do you only train Manchester-based teams?

No. Most of my training clients are in Greater Manchester and the North West, but sessions run online just as well for teams anywhere in the UK.
